Whitewater
rafting is the most popular adventure outing offered by the Adventure Center
at Whitewater Challengers. Rafting trips range from easy (suitable for ages 5 and
up) to exhilarating (recommended for ages 10 and up). The Lehigh River in the Poconos
features fun-filled rapids and spectacular wilderness scenery. Guides, gear and
shuttles to and from the river are provided by the outfitter.
Camping
at the Adventure Center at Whitewater Challengers is a real convenience for rafters
who come to enjoy the whitewater rapids of the Lehigh River. Amenities include a
full service camp store, snack bar, meal service, hot showers, a recreation field
including basketball and volleyball, and nearby hiking and biking trails. You are
welcome to bring your own tent, or rent a bunkhouse at the Adventure Campground.
Mountain biking
is another favorite activity offered by the Adventure Center at Whitewater Challengers.
A 25-mile, all-downhill rails-to-trails route follows the Lehigh River as it courses
through a remote wilderness gorge in the Poconos. Bike rentals and shuttles to and
from the trail are available April through October.
Whitewater kayaking clinics teach the basics of kayaking,
and are ideal for visitors who want to take their whitewater experience to the next
level. The two-day kayaking course includes all gear, instructors and shuttles to
and from the water.
