The Pocono Mountain Region is rich with Historical attractions. The region played a key role in the development of our country, including the the French-Indian War, the Revolutionary War, Civil War, the Industrial revolution. Many historical sites offer a glimpse into our Nation's past - whether it is a reconstructed fort, an industrial factory, or even an entire village. In the Poconos you can witness the lifestyle of the Amish and Pennsylvania Dutch, or the ordeal and difficult existence of coal miners.

This living Miners' Village is an authentic history site dedicated to the immigrants who toiled in the coal mines at the height of the anthracite boom. Surrounded by black-silt ponds and strip mining pits, this unique heritage site was restored by Paramount Pictures for the filming of "The Molly Maguires". Now a National Register District, Eckley consists of 58 buildings, 100 acres, furnishings and exhibits that preserve the everyday life of the coal miner.

   I would like to leave my e-mail, so that anyone who may have a idea about how to reserch my delima, will be able to write me. jnine_789@yahoo.com
    In 19 62, or 63, my whole family camped in the poconos there were 11 of us yhere at the time.  My dad and 2 of my brothers were working in a brick kiln, as they did refractory work. My mom didn't want dad to leave her alone for the three months that they would be gone. So mom packed us up and we camped there that time.
   One of my brothers says that there was a skislop being put in just up the hill, and that there was an old abandoned coal mine not far, he said that there was old equiptment was left there, that was from abouit the 1940's, and that you could look in this hole, and it seemed to go on forever. also there was a creek by a large lake . We were by the creek.One brother said that we were in a national park.
   All of this said to say that I was 3 years old when we were there, and I have had a life long dream to see where we were. But memories are dim, and Mom and Dad are now gone. if anyone can think of a way to shake up mempries, to help me find some history, I would be forever greatfull.
