Skiing and Ski Resorts
Here's an update on local ski conditions for the Poconos. Overall, the season has come to a close, and althought there was some unseasonably warm spells throughout the season, new snow making capacity and cold nights made the season a success.

Elk Moutain - Closed for the Season..
Camelback - Open, but with limited runs and one lift. No beginner trails open.
Sno Mountain - Closed for the Season.
Alpine - Closed for the Season.
Jack Frost - Closed for the Season.
Big Boulder - Closed for the Season.
Big Bear Now Closed for the Season.
Blu Mountain - Closed for the Season.
Tanglwood - Closed for the Season.
Without question, the best skiing near NYC, Baltimore/WashDC and Philadelphia are the Poconos Mountains and surrounding areas.
Many people are already booking up the ski packages for the holiday weekends (Valentines's DayPresident's Day and so on), so don't wait too long if you think you'd like to come play in the snow then - otherwise, you'll hear "Sold Out".
All the ski areas are listed here, even the smallest ones, so there's plenty to browse and look at. You're welcome to add comments to any of the pages, so if you have some tips or insight into a particular resort - sharing would be nice.
Other pages of interest are the snowboarding page and the snow tubing page. Some of the resorts (not ski resorts) have snow tubing on thier property and is included in the packages they offer. By the way, tubing is not just for kids. Also, you might want to look at the cross country skiing pages as well - great conditionin, and the snowmobiling pages.
Bookmark this page for future reference - the season runs until March.
Tanglwood owner has decided not to open for the 2007/2008 season- speculation is they are closed permanently - stay tuned as more info comes in.
