Technically speaking, Elk Mountain is not in the Poconos.
It is close enough to the Northern Region of the Poconos and the best skiing in Pennsylvania to make it onto the list of this website. If you're practicing, learning or refreshing your skills before you head out to the nation's premiere ski destinations (Vermont, Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho, etc), this should be your last stop before you board the plane.
Fewer crowds and better snow make Elk the place to go - within reasonable driving distance to the NE metro areas of Philly, NYC, Balto and DC.
