To describe the Skytop experience
succinctly, you'd have to imagine what it was like for the Greek
gods living on Mt. Olympus. Heavenly, majestic, elegant, awesome.

But nothing in the vocabulary of
mortals can quite describe the essence of what has been the crown
jewel of the Poconos for almost 80 years.
Skytop is the ultimate in resort
vacationing. Old world charm and character, timeless attention to
detail, impeccable service, modern conveniences and amenities, and,
most of all, a feeling of complete and utter relaxation.
Skytop offers
several lodging options:
The Lodge: Originally built
in 1926, the lodge itself is a Dutch Colonial stone manor house and
is the centerpiece of the resort.

Sitting proudly on a plateau
overlooking much of the 5500 pristine acres and a gorgeous 75 acre
lake, the Lodge affords guests a glimpse into the grandeur and charm
of the 1920's.
The 125 guest rooms and suites of
this grand historic hotel are well appointed in English
country-style and offer spectacular views of the resort and
surrounding Pocono Mountains.
The Inn at Skytop: Designed
as a "resort within a resort", this elegant, full service $5.7
million
golf
resort features a dedicated conference room, golf pro shop and
locker room, a lobby with a two-story atrium and natural stone
fireplace, a magnificent wrap-around porch and a 135 seat
restaurant.
The Inn offers 20 luxurious guest
rooms each with fireplace and private porch, two executive suites
each with their own private built-in Jacuzzi, six connecting rooms,
turndown service, and room safes.
All rooms, restaurant, lounge and
conference rooms have spectacular mountain and lake views.
The Cottages at Skytop:
Conveniently located near the East wing of the Lodge, 10
four-bedroom cottages are available for those who want the utmost
privacy.
Each cottage consists of four
inter-connecting bedrooms - two queen size rooms connecting to two
twin rooms. Private bath, porch, a small refrigerator and a color
TV/VCR.
Each cottage shares a washer dryer
facility - making cottage rooms ideal for young families.
Due to their unique location and
privacy, each room within the cottage can be occupied separately or
together in suites from two to four bedrooms.
Things to do
at Skytop:
What's striking about Skytop is the
casual elegance and friendly atmosphere the permeates the entire
resort. There's a certain feeling of comfort - a mystique - that
eschews all pretence and puts you right at home. Believe me, the
resort has every right to be pretentious, but it isn't. That's the
Skytop mystique.
So, what can you do here besides
relax and enjoy being a million mental miles from your regular life?
Lots! Let's explore by seasons:
Autumn/Fall:
(September - November)
Arguably the finest season for a mini getaway to the Poconos
- Great
foliage, crisp and clear skies, no crowds impacting the natural
resources.
Numerous private hiking trails with
Skytop's 5500 acres afford an opportunity to view woodland
wildflowers, migrating and nesting birds, reptiles and amphibians,
and signs of many of the area's exciting wildlife, including black
bear, otter, porcupine, beaver, coyote, bobcat, mink, and other
species.
GOLF at Skytop can be one of your most exciting
experiences. Imagine playing a round on an
18-hole
championship course that is rated among the finest in the east.
The course from the back tees measures 6,250 yards with a slope
rating of 121, and forward tees 5,683, and is sloped at a 122
rating. It's a course that challenges the serious golfer, yet won't
overwhelm the more
casual player. Whatever your level of play, the resident Golf Pro
Brian Boyle will be delighted to help you with the game.
Designed by the legendary Robert White, the course uses various
natural elevations. This type of construction eliminates hillside
fairways, a rare characteristic among Pocono Mountains golf courses.
The West Mountain Range overlooks the course from the northwest
and lush gardens surround other areas of the course where players
are often joined by deer grazing on the fairways. The 18th Hole, the
most expensive to construct, is now considered by many to be the
"signature hole".
